“The flower doesn’t dream of the bee. It blossoms, and the bee comes.” – Mark Nepo The holy Scripture talks about Jotham and how he became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God (2Chr 27:6). To be great in life, you have to live great with-in first not for the reason of being great with-out but as a purpose of service in any vocation you find yourself. Greatness is not 'natured' but 'nurtured', you have to find a purpose to serve, toil through the process of growth, baby-walk; you can fall but don't remain fallen, you can fail but don't remain a failure and you have to add new knowledge to yourself daily until greatness becomes your eventual outcome. In my study of great people alive or dead, one thing they all have in common; great people don't plan to be great, they prepare to be good and greatness becomes the outcome. It is interesting that no man is born great else the Scripture will not talk about servant upon horses and princes walking as servant upon the earth (Ecc 10:7), we all have equal opportunities though some are born into affluence while others are born poor, it is interesting though that more than 70% of great people in my study were born without silver spoon which means being born rich is not a major|primary criteria for being great but a personal determination to serve a purpose and an unending quest to solving a problem.
Albert Einstein was a common boy growing up, greeted with setbacks and failures but he prepared day and night until he won, Mitchell Elegbe created Interswitch not from a background of wealth but just to serve a purpose and in doing this, he's made name for himself, Aig Imoukuede might have come from a middle class home, there were many that grew like him in his generation but he-Aig prepared himself to be different, Cosmas Maduka of Coscharis sold 'akara' on the street of Jos as a child which kept him out of school but he prepared himself for what he believed is his core and imagine what he has become today, Nnamdi Ezeigbo searched for job carrying brown envelope around the city of Lagos until he humbled himself to become an apprentice of computer repairs, today SLOT has become an household name in Nigeria with many Techno and Infinix smartphones in the hands of people, Aliko Dangote might have come from a background of affluence but there were many children within the circle of Alhaji Dantata even biological children but we can see what Aliko has turned to today by personal determination to do business, what about Jimoh Ibrahim whose father was a village bricklayer with 7wives and 40 children but he-Jimoh went ahead to distinguish himself by focusing on his vocation no matter the controversy...we can go on and on but the truth you will find is, any man or woman (to be politically correct) can change tomorrow by changing today. If you cannot change your situation, you can change your disposition, you can change your attitude which will eventually shape your life. Just become a flower that produces soothing fragrance today and your bees (customers) will come. 'Tope Oladele
